About The Position

Plastic Surgery Physician Assistant (PA-C) Lahey Hospital and Medical Center Join our Plastic Surgery team as a skilled Physician Assistant (PA-C) to work independently and collaboratively with plastic surgeons and other healthcare professionals. You will provide crucial pre- and post-operative care, manage clinic flow, handle inpatient needs, and oversee wound care to ensure excellent patient outcomes. As you become integrated into the department, this role offers a pathway to transition into a surgical first-assist capacity in the operating room. Requirements

  • Current licensure as a PA-C in Massachusetts
  • MA Prescriptive Authority (controlled substances) & DEA registration.
  • 2+ years APP experience preferred; surgical, wound care, or plastic surgery experience a plus.
  • Strong interest in developing surgical first-assist skills (prior experience or RNFA certification preferred but not required for the right candidate).
  • Excellent communication, critical thinking, time management, & interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently & collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.

Responsibilities

  • Pre & post-op assessments for cosmetic & reconstructive surgery patients.
  • Participate in consultations & treatment planning; educate patients.
  • Support surgical planning & coordinate pre-surgery steps.
  • Manage post-surgical complications with surgeons.
  • Opportunity to support individual surgeons practice, including performing occasional first assist in operating facilities.
  • Document care in Epic EMR.
  • Coordinate care with other specialties (oncology, dermatology, etc.).
  • Educate patients/families on procedures, post-op & wound care, scar management.
  • Inpatient evaluation & management of complex wounds.
  • Participate in quality improvement, research (as applicable).
