About The Position

The position involves hiring an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to deliver patient-centered care in both ambulatory and inpatient settings within the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. The APP will work alongside a multi-specialty group of plastic surgeons, managing cosmetic and reconstructive patients, assisting in surgeries, and providing comprehensive care throughout the patient journey.

Requirements

• Master's Degree in Nursing for Nurse Practitioners or graduation from an accredited Physician's Assistant program.
• Certification as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
• Licensure to practice medicine through the GA Composite Medical Board for Physician Assistants or current licensure as an advanced practice nurse in the state of GA.
• Advanced Certification in the specialized area if required.
• Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Must be fully credentialed by the credentialing office to work.

Responsibilities

• Manage weekly clinic as a stand-alone provider.
• Examine patients and make diagnoses to determine the need for surgery.
• Review patient medical history and plan the best procedure for treatment in consultation with the physician lead when necessary.
• Complete all preparatory steps for surgery including obtaining informed consent and scheduling surgery with clinic schedulers and RNs.
• Perform postoperative visits for select patients at the discretion of the operating surgeon.
• Perform ambulatory procedures for a variety of surgical diagnoses including wound care, cosmetics, and excisional biopsies.
• First assist in the operating room.
• Assist in promoting activities and programs for the Plastics clinic at AU Health and provide appropriate educational materials.
