About The Position

The Plasma Processing Technician is responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors. This role involves compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and includes tasks such as collecting plasma samples, moving plasma units to freezers, ensuring proper storage, and verifying unit labeling. The technician will utilize sterile techniques, prepare shipping documentation, monitor equipment temperatures, and maintain a clean work environment. Additionally, the technician may be cross-trained in other areas and is expected to promote safety and confidentiality in all actions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in a laboratory or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to stand and walk for up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs.
  • Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by matching pre-printed labels with dynamic labels.
  • Utilize sterile techniques to draw samples and use heat sealers for sterility.
  • Pack and ship samples and units in accordance with SOPs.
  • Prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and report malfunctions.
  • Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
  • Record donor data accurately in the electronic donor information management system.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment.
  • Ensure sufficient operating supplies and forms are available.
  • Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
