About The Position

The Plasma Processing Technician is responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors. This role involves compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and includes tasks such as collecting plasma samples, ensuring proper storage of plasma units, verifying unit labeling, and utilizing sterile techniques. The technician will also monitor equipment temperatures, conduct daily calibrations, and maintain a clean work environment while following health and safety policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in a laboratory or warehouse environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • Ability to perform tasks while standing and walking up to 100% of the time.
  • Ability to reach, bend, kneel, and have a high level of manual dexterity.
  • Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs.
  • Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by checking pre-printed labels against dynamic labels.
  • Utilize sterile techniques to draw samples and use heat sealers for plasma unit samples.
  • Pack and ship samples and units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures.
  • Prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and report any malfunctions.
  • Record variances and conduct daily calibration of equipment.
  • Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment and ensure sufficient operating supplies.
  • Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
