About The Position

The Plasma Processing Technician is responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors. This role involves compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and includes tasks such as collecting plasma samples, ensuring proper storage of plasma units, and verifying unit labeling. The technician will utilize sterile techniques, monitor equipment temperatures, and maintain a clean work environment. The position may require cross-training in other areas and involves following health and safety policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in a laboratory or warehouse environment preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.
  • Ability to understand, remember, and apply oral and/or written instructions.
  • Ability to follow basic instructions and guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs.
  • Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by checking pre-printed labels against dynamic labels.
  • Utilize sterile technique to draw samples and use heat sealer for plasma unit samples.
  • Pack and ship samples and units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures.
  • Prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and report any malfunctions.
  • Conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
  • Record donor data accurately in the electronic donor information management system.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment.
  • Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all personnel, donor, and center information.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
