About The Position

The Plasma Processing Technician is responsible for the accurate and timely sampling, testing, shipping, and storage of plasma collected from donors. This role ensures compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain product quality and safety, while also supporting the operational needs of the center.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of three (3) months experience in a laboratory or warehouse environment preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations.

Responsibilities

  • Collect plasma samples and move plasma units to freezer to ensure product quality.
  • Ensure plasma units are properly stored according to SOPs, including unsuitable plasma units and samples.
  • Verify the accuracy of unit labeling by matching pre-printed labels with dynamic labels.
  • Utilize sterile techniques to draw samples and use heat sealers to assure sterility and quality of plasma unit samples.
  • Pack and ship samples and units in accordance with SOPs and center procedures.
  • Prepare shipping and unit disposal documentation.
  • Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures, informing personnel of any malfunctions.
  • Record variances and conduct daily calibration of equipment according to SOPs.
  • Accurately record donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in SOPs.
  • Understand policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
  • Maintain a clean and efficient work environment, ensuring sufficient operating supplies are available.
  • Follow all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and OSHA policies and procedures.
  • Promote safety in all actions and maintain confidentiality of personnel, donor, and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet business needs.
