About The Position

As a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services, you will support plasma center operations and report to the Plasma Center Manager. Your role will involve determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. You will work under the guidance of the Center Manager and the management of the Center Physician for medical issues, ensuring compliance with regulations in the plasma collection industry. Your contributions will directly impact the quality of life for patients who rely on the high-quality plasma collected at our centers.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including a recognized educational nursing program.
  • Currently licensed or certified as a Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) in the state of assignment.
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
  • Complete FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Proficiency in English and Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, and blood testing.
  • Evaluate donor reactions and manage medical emergencies according to SOPs.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or guidance on medical issues.
  • Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents and determine the need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER.
  • Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support investigations related to pandemic threats.
