About The Position

OBRC is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead and actively support our maintenance team in a fast-paced recycling facility. This position requires hands-on experience maintaining industrial or manufacturing equipment; residential, apartment, or general facilities maintenance experience alone is not considered equivalent. This working supervisor is responsible for coordinating daily maintenance activities, supervising repairs, troubleshooting, and performing preventive maintenance on plant production equipment, including conveyors, balers, motors, belts, pulleys, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and electrical components. Responsible for coordinating the activity of the maintenance team members.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred, not required or any equivalent combination of training, experience and education to perform duties.
  • 5+ years of industrial plant maintenance experience, including hands-on mechanical and electrical work.
  • Previous supervisory or lead experience in a maintenance environment.
  • Experience in high-volume or continuous-operation manufacturing or recycling environments.
  • Complete forklift training class as scheduled by the company.
  • Ability to use power tools, AC/DC welder, and oxygen/acetylene cutting tools.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and supervisory skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industrial production maintenance operations.
  • Adhere to proper personal protective equipment (PPE) standards, such as wearing safety glasses, use of hearing and hand protection, and wearing high visibility clothing when required.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification and safely operate forklifts with various attachments.
  • Maintain an accident-free record.
  • High degree of attention regarding safety requirements to prevent injury to self and others.
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team; a self-starter, but not hesitant to ask for directions when needed.
  • Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy.
  • Root cause analysis and reliability-centered maintenance experience.
  • Strong working knowledge of: Gearboxes, shafts, bearings, conveyors, belts, and drums, Industrial electrical systems, motors, HMIs, and VFDs
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a team; a self-starter, but not hesitant to ask for directions when needed.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate effectively at all levels with both internal and external partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience using CMMS software; UpKeep experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to perform basic math, such as addition and subtraction.
  • Ideal candidate must have their own tools
  • A current driver’s license and acceptable driving history is required

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the plant preventive and predictive maintenance programs for production equipment, ensuring all work is properly planned, documented, and tracked through the CMMS (UpKeep).
  • Train, direct, and evaluate maintenance team members on industrial equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. May make disciplinary recommendations as needed.
  • Supervise and lead a small team responsible for maintaining plant production equipment including conveyors, belts, pulleys, motors, balers, hydraulic systems, and other industrial machinery.
  • Assign daily work, prioritize maintenance activities, and ensure adequate coverage for plant operations.
  • Monitor cleanliness and ensure organization of department work and storage areas.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled meetings with direct reports as a monthly team meeting.
  • Work with the Inventory Clerk to monitor and update inventory levels and systems for general maintenance supplies and parts communicating with the Plant Manager.
  • Communicate equipment downtime events, root causes, and repair timelines to the Plant Manager and other operational leaders.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues impacting plant operations and production equipment.
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, aerial lifts – all with required certifications.
  • Assist other OBRC plants as needed throughout Oregon.
  • Adhere, know, and communicate all OSHA regulations and company safety policies. Ensure team members and self are consistently following these policies.
  • Assist with interviewing and selecting qualified applicants with industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.
