Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Instruct and enforce general safety rules, plant rules, EEOC and OSHA standards. Report safety hazards to EHS coordinator, Operations manager and Plant manager. Investigate and fill out accident reports and notify appropriate people of all accidents occurring during the shift. Has primary responsibility for quality assurance and production levels. Supervise assigned work shift. Responsible for the efficient operation of the plant. Responsible for the discipline, training, safety and welfare of the employees on assigned shift. Assign employees to jobs. Train and instruct employees in the most efficient method possible in their job procedures. Utilize manpower to obtain the most efficient production possible by monitoring pounds per labor hour. Work directly on the floor always to instruct and monitor production and SPC charts. Ensure that proper material, tooling, and gauges are available and on the machine before the present job is completed. Ensure that material flows in proper order so there is no lost machine time. Inform Operations Manager of any inventory shortage or tooling needs. Report on machinery and equipment needing repair via work order system. Review overtime hours for employees, making sure it is distributed fairly. Monitor employee attendance, performance, punctuality and returns from breaks and discipline according to company policies. Responsible for suspensions when necessary. Review labor edits and edit as necessary to insure employees are paid correctly. Review production reports at the end of the shift. Suggest ways to improve production, safety and working conditions. Communicate with incoming Supervisor regarding job status, any problems that occurred on the shift or special instructions that would be beneficial to the next shift. Continually work toward keeping wasted material to the lowest possible rate. Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager. The incumbent is expected to understand that all employees have a shared responsibility for the quality of products and related services provided to our customers. Duties and responsibilities are to be carried out in accordance with the PTC Quality Management System and its policies, procedures, and work instructions as applicable to the job or function being performed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Must be able to communicate efficiently both verbally and written.
  • Must have leadership ability.
  • Must be organized.
  • Must be able to adapt and implement change.
  • Must understand production processes/ work instructions as necessary to supervise plant employees.
  • Must be able to work independently to solve problems without close supervision.
  • Must be able to produce results and achieve goals.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using while numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
  • Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate, must be flexible with shift and hours.
