SUMMARY: The Plant Security Agent position maintains a safe and secure environment for customers and team members by monitoring the plant. It is also responsible for safely and securely processing in/out bound semi and truck traffic entering & exiting the property.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2 years of security or related experience
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word)

Responsibilities

  • Accurately weigh trucks entering and leaving the facility to determine net weights.
  • Issue weigh tickets, shipping manifests, and load documentation, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with Packers and Stockyards Division (PSD) regulations.
  • Enter driver and load information into computerized weighing systems and maintain spreadsheets, logs, and reports.
  • Maintain accurate entry/exit logs (paper & digital records)
  • Prevent unauthorized access to plant (terminated TM’s, unauthorized salespeople, unauthorized tow trucks, etc)
  • Effectively operate motorized gate systems
  • Effective document incoming trailer equipment (live haul, offal, and reefers) for prior damage
  • Direct truck drivers to specific, designated areas (loading/unloading docks, dump areas) to ensure smooth traffic flow
  • Possess the ability to communicate with truck drivers, plant managers, and logistics teams as needed.
  • Communicate regularly with plant shipping department to ensure proper flow of trailer traffic at loading docks.
  • Check incoming paperwork for receiving to ensure that Bill of Laden (BOL), Cost of Analysis (COA), and seal numbers both on paperwork and trailer are correct before being allowed onto property.
  • Check seal numbers on shipping trucks and receive a copy the BOL when exiting property.
  • Conduct trailer checks to verify temperature set-point, actual temperature, fuel level, and the presence of a seal.
  • Coordinate with plant leadership for any issues.
  • Communicate effectively with law enforcement authorities, first responders, and federal regulatory agencies (USDA and similar)
  • Other duties as assigned (must pertain to a scale or security function)
