Plant Sale Staff (Temporary) REPORTS TO: Operations Manager / Produce Managers FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, Hourly Employee DEPARTMENT: Produce Department PURPOSE: Plant Sale staff provide excellent customer service and participate in receiving, stocking, and tendering purchases at Eastside's annual plant sale while working outdoors and within a seasonal greenhouse. Plant Sale staff are interested in plants and gardening and are comfortable working independently. This is a temporary position with both full time and part time hours available. The plant sale runs May 2 – May 25. This position begins April 27th and will end between May 26 - 27. ALL CO-OP STAFF WILL: · Use all available tools and resources in order to provide excellent and knowledgeable customer service to all customers, coworkers, and vendors · Communicate professionally and respectfully with everyone you encounter while at work · Adhere to all store and department policies and procedures · Demonstrate regular, predictable good attendance · Attend huddles and meetings as scheduled · Commit to contributing to a positive, team-building work environment ALL PLANT SALE STAFF WILL: · Assist in receiving, stocking, and labeling plant sale plants and merchandise as directed · Show proficiency in operating the point of sale (POS) system to tender plant sale purchases · Accurately ring up plant sale purchases and practice safe money-handling skills · Follow all Eastside Food Co-op policies and procedures THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS: · Passion for plants, gardening, and co-ops · Basic computer, mathematic, and organization skills · Exceptional customer service skills · The ability to balance multiple priorities · Self-motivation; comfortable taking initiative and prioritizing tasks · Weekend and evening availability · The ability to work with limited and no supervision PHYSICAL DEMANDS: · Standing, bending, stooping, reaching, squatting, and walking for extended periods of time per shift · Environmental exposure to outdoor weather and elements · Repetitive use of hands for grasping, pushing, pulling Important Notice: The job duties, elements, responsibilities, skills, functions, experience, educational factors, and the requirements and conditions listed in this job description are representative only and not exhaustive of the tasks that an employee may be required to perform.
