About The Position

The HSE Leader will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards. This role will play a critical part in fostering a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, driving continuous improvement, and achieving our goal of zero injuries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Health Care or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in HSE roles, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong influencing and relationship building skills.
  • Ability to educate and teach others on HSE policies and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.
  • Experience with ISO 18001 standards and their implementation.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 standards and their implementation.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in HSE (e.g., CSP, CIH, NEBOSH) is a plus.
  • Experience with DNV Loss Control and its application in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and 5S methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Design and deliver HSE training programs for employees at all levels, including new hire orientation, ongoing safety training, and specialized training for specific roles.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and report on HSE performance metrics, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal HSE regulations.
  • Manage waste reduction, recycling, and other environmental sustainability initiatives.
  • Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes.
  • Integrate ISO 18001 standards with HSE practices to ensure a cohesive and comprehensive approach to health, safety, and environmental management.
  • Develop and maintain documentation and records in accordance with ISO 18001 requirements.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure ongoing compliance with Loss Control and ISO 18001 standards and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage injury cases, including reporting, treatment coordination, case management, and return-to-work programs.
  • Develop, track, report, and analyze leading and lagging safety metrics to drive continuous improvement and achieve safety goals.
  • Familiarity with ISO 14001 standards and their implementation.
