About The Position

The Plant Operator position at HRSD involves operating and controlling sewage treatment and related facilities while completing the Plant Operator Apprenticeship Program. The role requires a combination of on-the-job training and classroom instruction, with a focus on maintaining compliance with licensing requirements and performing maintenance tasks as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of HRSD's Plant Operator Apprenticeship Trade or equivalent as determined by HRSD's Apprenticeship Committee.
• Completion of the On-The-Job-Training skills portion of HRSD's Apprenticeship program or approved equivalent.
• Virginia Class 1 Wastewater Operator License must be obtained within six years of appointment.

Nice To Haves

• Valid Driver's License from state of residence.

Responsibilities

• Operating and controlling all Sewage Treatment and Solids Handling facilities during work shifts.
• Completing HRSD's Plant Operator Apprenticeship Program.
• Performing various maintenance assignments as needed.
