About The Position

We are currently seeking an experienced Plant Operator to join our Ft Pierce, FL team. The Plant Operator reports directly to the Plant Supervisor and operates a stationary or portable batching plant in mixing cement materials and aggregates to produce concrete.

Requirements

  • Must possess the consistent ability to work overtime (nights & weekends).
  • Must be able to work in an environment where you may be exposed to extremes of hot or cold weather.
  • Job requires the following: climbing, stooping, bending, squatting, lifting, stretching, pushing, pulling, vibration, twisting, kneeling, standing, walking, sitting, reaching, and working at heights of 50-80 feet.
  • Requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
  • Must possess a current Class B Commercial Driver License in good standing.
  • Must be willing and able to driver to different plants sites based upon business needs.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum one-year batching experience in a ready-mix concrete environment.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the automated batch plant operation.
  • Must have (or must be able to obtain as soon as possible) ACI Level I Field Testing Technician and Florida DOT Batch Certification.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Computer and Microsoft Office products.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Command Alkon system experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adjusts controls for required mixture of the materials.
  • Operates controls that admit materials separately from storage hoppers or mixing bins.
  • Observes indicator that show when proper amount of materials have been made.
  • Discharges materials from bin into truck or other carrier or mixer. Performs other related duties. Assists in maintenance and report of plant equipment. May perform other related duties.
  • Answers telephone, radio, and takes and inputs orders.
