Airgas is Hiring for a Plant Operator in (Insert Location Here )! We are looking for you ! Airgas is seeking a Lead Plant Operator. The Lead Plant Operator will support and guide the Plant Operator team in tasks such as production, packaging of Dry Ice, shipping preparation, and loading/unloading products in commercial trucks. Team Coordination: Act as the team coordinator for the daily loading and packaging of dry ice, collaborating with management to support the team in meeting shift goals. Mentorship & Development: Assist in training while mentoring and encouraging junior operators and providing thoughtful input for associate evaluations. Safety & Quality Advocacy: Observe and share insights on safety hazards or quality deficiencies while remaining committed to following all safety and quality policies. Equipment Operation: Operate forklifts and pallet jacks daily to safely maneuver and load dry ice boxes onto production floors and trailers. Documentation & Data: Accurately perform data entry of delivery ticket information into the computer system to support operational flow. Workspace Stewardship: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace through essential upkeep tasks to ensure a productive environment for the whole team. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 85% in the production area (i.e. warm in summer, cool in winter). Hazards require the use of personal protective equipment (i.e. hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes). Dry ice is extremely cold, and therefore requires that gloves be worn when directly handling dry ice. 15% office work to provide data entry.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, commissions, proportions, and percent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively written/verbal

Nice To Haves

  • Two plus (2+) years experience in production/manufacturing environment
