About The Position

ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP® is looking for a Plant Operator to join our Operations Services team at our Marine Corp Logistics Base (MCLB) in Albany, Georgia. The position is onsite. The Plant Operator is responsible for operation, basic troubleshooting, and performing minor repairs on a 1.9 mW generator and all associated equipment in an effort to ensure reliable, efficient, and cost-effective long-term operations. The Plant Operator operates one or more types of control systems, dual fuel generator(s), fire tube boilers, and heat recovery steam generators and provide customer service to government personnel at Marine Core Logistics Base (MCLB) in Albany, GA.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years of related experience
  • High school degree, vocational/technical training school
  • Experience operating natural gas/landfill gas fired engines
  • High level of troubleshooting skills with electrical and mechanical systems
  • Must obtain NIULPE Class IV power engineering certification within first 18 months of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Five (5) or more years of related experience in the Energy Services/Power Generation, Performance Contracting, or Controls Industry
  • OSHA 30 Training
  • NIULPE Class IV power engineering certification
  • Associates degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls related field

Responsibilities

  • Managing all plant operations in accordance with ESG safety requirements
  • Ensuring plant adheres to ESG and MCLB Albany safety and environmental regulations
  • Monitoring, conducting, and maintaining daily records of checks on equipment, gauges, and indicators to detect evidence of potential/active issues which may affect operations
  • Adjusting controls to regulate generator power output, start or stop generator, or other equipment
  • Interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, construction blueprints, or other specifications
  • Identifying process deviations and perform root cause/corrective actions
  • Performing preventative and routine maintenance
  • Collaborating with contractors and vendors hired by ESG and insure contractors and vendors follow ESG safety regulations
  • Communicating openly with ESG management and coworkers about all active or potential operational issues
  • Maintaining accurate records of part inventory
  • Recognizing and respond to customer needs by completing preventative maintenance, repair, replacement or adjustment of controls systems as required in a timely and efficient manner
  • Performing general housekeeping
  • The ability to work after hours for service/emergency calls to maintain working equipment
  • Communicating with supervisors/management as to job progress and issues of assigned work
  • Responsibility for safe work practices and implementation of operational excellence
  • Obtaining safety permits and conduct activity hazard analyses
  • Performing daily inspections on equipment maintained by ESG at Dougherty County Landfill and report deficiencies
  • Ability to work safely from ladders, elevated platforms, and boom lifts
