About The Position

The Plant Operator Trainee position at NRG involves operating and monitoring auxiliary equipment and systems to ensure the safe, efficient, reliable, and environmentally sound production of electricity. Requirements

• High School diploma or GED required.
• 1-2 years of related field or industrial experience.
• Ability to operate various switches and valves.
• Ability to work without supervision and handle multiple tasks.
• Ability to communicate plant system conditions clearly.
• Ability to discern and respond to signals from control panels.
• Ability to monitor and record data accurately.
• Ability to perform checks on equipment and operate company vehicles.

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of the effect of switches and valves on plant operations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
• Experience with routine laboratory tests and analysis on boiler water.

Responsibilities

• Operate, inspect, and monitor steam power plant equipment safely and efficiently.
• Recognize safety hazards and adhere to safety guidelines.
• Learn and apply proper operating procedures.
• Observe variations in operating conditions and troubleshoot plant equipment.
• Monitor and record data using various instruments and devices.
• Perform routine cleaning of the work area.
