About The Position

The MSO - CROB 1st Yr Apprentice position at Xcel Energy is designed for individuals looking to develop their skills in both operations and maintenance within the energy sector. This role involves a comprehensive training program that includes hands-on experience with plant equipment, safety procedures, and classroom instruction, ultimately leading to qualifications as a Control Room Operator and Maintenance Apprentice.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Successful completion of the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Plant Operator Selection Systems (POSS) test.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to overtime and call outs.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to company safety rules, including wearing appropriate PPE.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and possess a valid driver's license.
• Must be respirator qualified and pass a baseline audiogram.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate plant equipment and perform inspections.
• Clean and maintain equipment, including turbines, boilers, and pumps.
• Assist with unit startup and shutdown procedures.
• Conduct water tests and other operational duties as required.
• Participate in hands-on training and classroom instruction as directed by management.
• Complete a 4-year apprentice program to qualify for MSO Control Room Operator B Journeyman.
• Transition into the maintenance training program and complete a 3-year maintenance apprentice program.
