About The Position

Provide support to employees in the facility by administering First Aid, processing medical paperwork, conducting physical exams and urine tests for substance abuse testing, dispensing over the counter medication, and following worker's compensation procedures. Provide Nursing Care & Activities. Uses First Aid equipment for employee health checks. Provides minor nursing needs to employees on a walk-in-basis. Performs emergency first aid to all employees who require it. Conducts all necessary drug screens on current employees. Conducts COVID testing as necessary. Will be available by phone as a back up for the Nurse Supervisor. Will report to the plant for injuries or as needs arise. Reporting & Processes. Processes paperwork for OSHA to meet Federal guidelines. Processes and files insurance claims for the facility. Communicates with all management personnel routinely. Completes incident reports and investigations as necessary. Assists with New Employee Orientation as needed. Assists with case management tasks related to worker's compensation claims (attending appointments, contacting Sedgwick, sending/receiving documents related to claim, etc.) Attends meetings in the Nurse Supervisor's absence and is prepared to present information if necessary. Obtain certification and teach CPR/First aid courses. Update internal incident record as well as OSHA logs as necessary. Delegates authorized medical tasks via state Nurse Practice Act in accordance with necessity. Communication & Relationships. Communicates effectively at all levels from employees to management to physicians, both written and verbal. Communicates with doctors and hospitals regarding medical/worker's compensation claims. Participates as a member of the Team. Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members. Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc. Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization. Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g., quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. Requirements

  • Must have a current Registered Nurse (RN) in practicing state
  • Current CPR certification
  • First aid, CPR and ability to operate blood pressure equipment
  • MS Word and Excel experience necessary
