About The Position

The Plant Manufacturing Engineer will provide engineering support in a changing, fast paced, distilled spirits processing and bottling operation, developing and recommending manufacturing processes, process improvements, and providing related technical support. The Engineer will manage manufacturing related projects and coordinate activities with various internal and external individuals and suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related engineering focused degree
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in an manufacturing engineering role
  • Proficient computer skills with experience utilizing computer aided design software, industrial control software, and project management software
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources
  • Must be highly analytical and possess excellent problem-solving skills, sound decision making skills, and ability to meet deadlines in a team-oriented environment
  • Identify complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions
  • Use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
  • Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one
  • Ability to interpret and apply written procedures and standards governing manufacturing processes
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, and Access
  • Ability to work effectively in a union environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Must be a highly motivated and self-directed individual

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business or related field
  • Advanced proficiency with computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, AutoCad and Outlook
  • Previous experience in a distilled spirits industry

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed cost analysis, risk assessments and present results to others
  • Conceive, design, develop and implement new production lines and technology to process, bottle and package product, to include support of the start-up of new products
  • Maintain packaging standards throughout product lines leading improvements, changes and new development in direct participation and projects completion with Marketing and Sales.
  • Determine, revise and/or review the most economic methods, operational sequence, equipment, and tooling necessary to produce product in a most cost-efficient manner
  • Implement and document practices and methods to increase manufacturing productivity
  • Analyze systems, processes and results to define and/or recommend changes to manufacturing systems and processes to increase productivity
  • Apply statistical methods and perform mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, staff requirements, and production standards
  • Plan and recommend capital equipment purchases to support and improve manufacturing processes, and completes financial analysis for such recommendations
  • Serve as project manager on large capital projects and lead cross functional project teams
  • Monitor implementation of capital projects to ensure that standards and expectations for each objective are completed as planned
  • Confer with vendors, staff, and management personnel regarding purchases, product and production specifications, manufacturing capabilities, or project status
  • Ensure that projects are properly planned to provide detailed objectives and sufficient funding to ensure stated results and deliverables are achieved
  • Offer recommendations to system and equipment designs to increase productivity, reliability, sustainability, and reduce cost
  • Work with operations, quality, and maintenance to provide technical support in the design, development, purchase, installation, start-up, operation, maintenance, and improvement of equipment to support continuous improvement and equipment reliability
  • Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, and workspace to illustrate maximum efficiency, using drafting tools and computer aided drafting (CAD)
  • Provides hands-on support to team members and participates in task execution to drive completion
