About The Position

The Lafayette Plant Manager position provides the overall strategic leadership and expertise to ensure success in operating the plant safely and efficiently while being a good steward of the environment and generating quality finished goods that exceed customer expectations. The Plant Manager has overall responsibility for the Lafayette site to ensure standards for Environmental, Health, Safety, Quality, Food Quality, and Security are continually met or exceeded. The Plant Manager will oversee the entire manufacturing process across the Lafayette plant, from sourcing raw materials to shipping finished products to customers.  This person will be accountable for implementing best practices to improve the plant from safety, environmental and operational processes .

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or related field
  • 10+ years of extensive progressive chemical process and plant experience and 5+ years of manufacturing leadership experience
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of the organization
  • Experience in planning, design, procurement, labor management, production scheduling, quality control, shipping, and finance.
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions using a continuous improvement mindset
  • Solid conflict-resolution and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills; able to mentor and lead
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • In-depth knowledge of industry and its place on the market

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for growing a world class safety and environmental culture ensuring continuous improvement through dialogue, actions and implementation of successful initiatives .
  • Ensure full compliance with internal and external regulations, policies, initiatives and procedures .
  • Ensure all environmental permit limits are being met. Report deviations and expedite any repairs needed to return systems to permit limits. Collaborate across network environmental counsels.
  • Partner with site Human Resource B usiness P artner to outline talent and workforce strategy for the site to drive development, retention, engagement, and inclusion and diversity.
  • Direct change management through proper communication, dissemination of critical information and overall education of the team on critical plant information.
  • Aspire a culture aligned with our Primient core values: safety, integrity, excellence and growth as well as our guiding principles.
  • Lead Quality performance for the site.  Assure all finished products are shipped within their final product quality specifications and are safe for general public use.
  • Meet outlined performance targets for throughput, productivity, capital implementation and cost. Assure all plant production plans are met.  Report and correct deviations.
  • Execution of capital expenditure plan improves safety, environmental , maintenance, operation s , cost, ingredient usage, and are on budget and time. Determine KPIs and measure them on a regular basis . Decisive mindset, taking ownership of work to deliver with speed and accuracy .
  • Drive improvement through cost effective systems centered around capital, operating expenditures, staffing, wages and salaries . Assure plant budgets are met.  Report and correct deviations.
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels and categories of stakeholders.  This includes internal team members and the Primient network. Maintain sharp focus on customers and other appropriate external parties. Respectfully l ead and inspire people while overseeing plant operations . Be a n empowered leader and act decisively . Energize the site with a positive and team-based approach.
