About The Position

Tyler Union, a division of McWane, Inc., has proudly served the waterworks industry for over a century, specializing in the manufacturing and distribution of ductile iron fittings, joint restraints, and valve boxes has an immediate opening for a Plant Manager for its main manufacturing facility located in Anniston, AL. The Plant Manager over Foundry Operations is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the foundry department, including melting, green sand molding and no-bake value streams and related core making, shakeout, and finishing. This role ensures safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations while maintaining high standards of quality, environmental compliance, and employee engagement. The Plant Manager drives continuous improvement initiatives and fosters a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and operational excellence. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Metallurgy, Industrial Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of manufacturing or industrial experience.
  • At least five (5) years in an industrial leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of ductile iron casting processes preferred.
  • Proven track record of improving safety, quality, and productivity metrics.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to foundry department supervisors and teams.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee production planning, scheduling, and execution to meet customer demand and quality standards.
  • Monitor and control foundry KPIs including yield, scrap, downtime, and labor efficiency.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for process and quality issues.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, plant engineering, and quality teams to optimize equipment reliability and process capability.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and manage departmental budgets, including labor, materials, and capital expenditures.
  • Recruit, train, and develop team members to build a high-performing workforce.
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and accountability.
  • Directly manage production leaders within a department producing ductile iron waterworks fittings.
  • Carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
