About The Position

The Plant Manager oversees all aspects of manufacturing operations for a leading manufactured housing company, including production, quality, maintenance, safety, and distribution. This hands-on leadership role ensures operational excellence, team development, and delivery of high-quality homes and structures - including sheds, cabins, and modular units - on time and within budget. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, bilingual leader who thrives in a fast-paced, high-touch production environment and is passionate about continuous improvement, safety, and team success.

Requirements

  • Bilingual (Spanish and English) - Required.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DOT, and EHS standards.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace; ERP experience (Infor preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and AutoCAD drawings.
  • Proven success managing multi-shift or multi-facility operations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • High energy, results-driven mindset with openness to change.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, Manufacturing Management, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5-7 years of experience in plant or operations management - ideally within manufactured housing, modular building, or wood products industries.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and direct day-to-day plant operations to meet production and shipping goals.
  • Oversee production, maintenance, purchasing, inventory, and service operations.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets for optimal output and quality.
  • Implement strategies aligned with company objectives, providing clear direction and focus to all plant departments.
  • Track performance metrics (safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery) and initiate corrective actions as needed.
  • Drive operational excellence through lean manufacturing, single-piece flow, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all products meet or exceed quality standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain efficient material flow, production scheduling, and distribution coordination.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration between production, delivery, and service teams to optimize throughput and customer satisfaction.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a motivated, bilingual workforce that embraces accountability and teamwork.
  • Foster a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement.
  • Coach and develop supervisors and line leads to support Ulrich's 5-Star Customer Experience.
  • Address employee issues constructively while maintaining fair and consistent policy administration.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, and environmental regulations.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through training, audits, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Oversee proper maintenance and safe operation of all production and service equipment.
  • Develop and maintain systems to track productivity, quality, and cost performance.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce waste, increase capacity, and enhance product consistency.
  • Prepare and present reports on production performance, material usage, and labor efficiency.
