About The Position

The Plant Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, operational performance, and scalable growth of the McAllen, Texas facility. This role is accountable for plant operations, processing efficiency, equipment reliability, cost control, people leadership, and cross-functional execution in support of Maglio Companies’ growth strategy. The Plant Manager sets the tone for accountability, safety, and continuous improvement while partnering closely with Sales, Purchasing, Food Safety, and HR.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in food, produce, or manufacturing environments.
  • Proven leadership experience managing supervisors and frontline teams.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience overseeing equipment, maintenance, and plant infrastructure.
  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
  • Experience partnering with sales, purchasing, and quality teams in a production environment.
  • Financial acumen with experience managing labor, waste, and operating costs.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day plant operations, including processing, labor planning, equipment uptime, safety, sanitation, and production flow.
  • Lead facility expansion and capacity growth initiatives to support increase volume and new business.
  • Establish and maintain efficient processing workflows that improve throughput, yield, and labor productivity.
  • Drive preventative maintenance, equipment reliability, and capital planning.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, regulatory, and customer requirements at all times.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing leadership team across operations, maintenance and support functions.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement on the plant floor.
  • Manage plant-level budgets, labor cost, yields, waste, and operating expenses.
  • Support customer visits, audits, and meetings as needed to strengthen relationships and drive growth.
  • Collaborate with Sales and Purchasing to align production plans with demand, pricing, and grower/vendor capabilities.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction through communication with sales, procurement and transportation teams to maximize profits, product quality and placement.
  • Partner with Food Safety and Quality to continuously strengthen programs and audit readiness.
  • Identify and execute cost-reduction opportunities without compromising safety, quality, or service.
  • Provide timely, accurate reporting on plant performance, KPIs, and operational risks.
  • Prepare the facility and leadership team for long-term growth, additional shifts, and increase complexity.
  • Find and cultivate growers and other vendors that meet our quality, financial, food safety and social accountability standards. Provide commodities in demand by our current customer base.
  • Execute transportation strategy and tactics to increase profitability and reduce costs.
  • Champion projects to improve internal efficiencies and provide direct benefits to our customers.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
