Aerospace Production Manager Position: Production Manager – Aerospace Manufacturing Location: Santa Clarita, CA Employment Type: Full-Time Industry: Aerospace Manufacturing (Precision Fasteners) Company Overview AS Aerospace is a fast-growing aerospace manufacturer specializing in high-strength, precision fasteners used in commercial aviation, defense, and U.S. government programs. Our products are manufactured to extremely tight tolerances and meet the highest quality standards, including AS9100. A CNC machining background is highly preferred. Position Summary The Production Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring safety, quality, and delivery. This role drives continuous improvement, optimizes production processes, and leads production teams to a high-mix, high-precision aerospace manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate has strong leadership skills, hands-on manufacturing knowledge, and experience managing aerospace or precision machining operations.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of production or plant management experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing.
  • Proven experience leading manufacturing teams in a job shop or high-mix environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining (CNC Lathes), tooling, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working in AS9100-regulated environments.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and organizational abilities.
  • Computer proficiency and experience with ERP/MRP systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, or a related field desired.
  • CNC machining background (setup, tooling, or programming).
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience.
  • Machine shop, tool & die, or assembly tooling experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, organize, and manage daily plant operations to meet manufacturing needs and customer quality, delivery.
  • Oversee manufacturing processes including forging, CNC machining (drilling, tapping, milling), and assembly.
  • Ensure production output, product quality, and on-time shipping goals are achieved.
  • Lead, coach, and develop department supervisors, team leads, and operators.
  • Allocate labor, equipment, and materials efficiently to maximize productivity and asset utilization.
  • Monitor key performance metrics such as throughput, scrap, rework, labor efficiency, and machine utilization.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives including Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and waste reduction.
  • Collaborate closely with Engineering, Quality, and Supply Chain to resolve production issues.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100, customer requirements, and internal quality systems.
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture and ensure adherence to all safety policies.
  • Oversee equipment maintenance coordination and minimize unplanned downtime.
  • Address employee concerns, performance issues, and workforce planning needs.
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and reporting through ERP/MRP systems.
  • Stay current with best practices in manufacturing leadership and aerospace production.
