About The Position

As the Plant Manager, you will be a strategic business partner, managing all aspects of the Lawrence Kansas site, including EHS, human resources, quality, production, maintenance, logistics, and engineering. You will develop annual fixed and variable cost budgets and manage site spending performance. You are responsible for capital plan execution, union relations and you will represents the company within the local community. The site holds an RC 14001 certification and FSSC 22000 certification. You will ensure adequate resources are provided to maintain the certifications.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is required; a major in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years’ management experience in a manufacturing company.
  • Strong organization/leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate vision into action; strategy development and communication.
  • Proven planning, project management, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change across the organization – in the plant, in the region and across the globe.
  • Excellent managerial skills with the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Resilience and ability to perform under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Leadership experience in a unionized setting preferred.
  • Proven management experience in manufacturing environment, with accountability for safety, operations, and financial results – preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Establish long-term goals and objectives to drive best practices and continuous improvement within the site.
  • Manage production and quality performance to meet customer requirements in a cost effective manner.
  • Understand and evaluate financial information and make sound business judgments based on the available information.
  • Ensure site compliance with federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure safe working practices, focusing on proactive practices to enhance safety culture.
  • Define site investment needs; develop and execute capital investment plan.
  • Develop an Operational Excellence workplan to drive continuous improvement.
  • Leverage technology and innovation to boost productivity and improve operational efficiency.
  • Maintain good working relationship with the Union, including responsibility for negotiation and administration of labor agreements.
  • Obtain and maintain site registration of ISO standards, FSSC Certification and Responsible Care Certification.
  • Foster an environment for employee engagement and enablement.
  • Build and strengthen professional capabilities across the site.
  • Analyze and report plant performance to the global management team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
