About The Position

The Plant Manager at Strategic Materials, Inc (SMI) is responsible for overseeing operational excellence and P&L management for the plant. This includes managing production operations, process engineering, environmental safety, customer relations, purchasing, facilities, quality, project management, planning and scheduling, and employee relations. The Plant Manager is expected to meet or exceed performance objectives outlined in the Annual Business Plan, function as a change agent, and collaborate with safety leads to ensure compliance with environmental regulations. The role also involves evaluating and improving the plant's capabilities, building a strong management team, preparing production and cost reduction plans, and maintaining excellent communication with stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of operations leadership experience.
  • Experience in production operations, project management, master scheduling, supplier relations, quality, environmental compliance, maintenance, process engineering, production control, equipment & capital, facilities, safety & compliance, logistics/transportation.
  • Undergraduate degree in chemical, mechanical, industrial/manufacturing engineering, production technology, or operations management preferred.
  • Strong technical and engineering background.
  • Experience implementing manufacturing improvement programs (lean manufacturing).
  • Ability to contribute to operating plans and strategic initiatives.
  • Outstanding communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operational excellence and P&L management for the Plant.
  • Manage production operations, process engineering, environment & safety, customer relations, purchasing, facilities, quality, project management, planning & scheduling, and employee & labor relations.
  • Meet or exceed cost, efficiency, utilization, quality, and schedule performance objectives.
  • Function as a change agent to manage integration of new processes, training, systems, and metrics.
  • Collaborate with Environmental, Health and Safety lead to manage compliance matters.
  • Evaluate, develop, and improve the plant's technical, operational, and managerial resources.
  • Build a strong plant operations management team and conduct performance reviews.
  • Prepare detailed production and cost reduction plans, budgets, and project plans.
  • Direct the utilization of manufacturing systems, metrics, and controls.
  • Maintain excellent communications with internal and external customers.
  • Manage employee relations activities and create a positive culture.
  • Responsible for employee selection and retention.
