About The Position

The Plant Manager is the senior company team member at our Houston TX manufacturing site and has overall responsibility for manufacturing processes/activities and team members at this location. The facility will be responsible for producing large fabrications, crane girders and trolleys for overhead traveling cranes. Activities will include fabrication, assembly, wiring and testing of equipment to meet customer specifications. The plant manager will be responsible for ensuring all deadlines are met while following proper health and safety protocols as well as quality and contract requirements.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree is preferred in operations, business management, or engineering
  • Must be organized, confident, and results oriented leader with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong leader with sound decision-making qualities and the ability to effectively lead the team
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years management experience in factory producing made-to-order capital equipment
  • Previous experience in a capital equipment manufacturer or assembly operation is required
  • Must be a proven change agent and working knowledge of a lean operating philosophy
  • Must have working knowledge of ISO 9001, ERP software, and cost accounting principles
  • Must be capable of strong operational focus while planning staffing needs, supply chain, and defining daily processes
  • Proven track record of managing manufacturing operation from a process and metric based perspective
  • Proven track record of utilizing continuous improvement practices to drive operational efficiencies
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to use MS Office and MS Project a plus
  • Some travel required

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure safety of all team members
  • Develop plans that help operations run smoothly and as efficient as possible
  • Manage daily manufacturing activities
  • Create and manage operating budgets
  • Recruit, train, and onboard new team members to create a world class manufacturing organization
  • Collect and review data to reduce inefficiencies and waste
  • Evaluate team members and give suggestions for improvement through coaching and mentoring
  • Oversee work schedules to ensure proper coverage and staffing levels
  • Oversee production schedules to assure on-time deliveries
  • Implement and measure continuous improvement
  • Develop and implement employee development and training programs
