About The Position

Kuraray America is seeking two Plant Managers to lead operations at two distinct sites: Elastomers and POVAL. Each Plant Manager will oversee and direct all manufacturing activities for their respective site, including production, materials management, quality control, and manufacturing engineering. The role focuses on ensuring products are manufactured in the most cost-effective manner while meeting shipping deadlines and fulfilling sales commitments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics)
  • Minimum of 8-12 years of operations experience at a chemical plant using reactive substances
  • In-depth experience in production, process, and polymer engineering, maintenance, technology development and engineering practices, efficient manufacturing operations, quality improvement processes, and HSE&S
  • Minimum of 7 years managing people with 5 years leading leaders (supervisors, managers, professionals, and employees) and teams.
  • Proven ability to lead and improve process safety systems, conduct risk assessments, and drive a culture of safety at a moderately complex facility.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, interpersonal, creative thinking, consulting, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work to manage multiple projects to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving/decision-making skills.
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Candidates must have a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and propose annual business plans for a given area or department, ensuring alignment with strategy.
  • Recommend financial and headcount budgets; propose business targets revenues or other KPIs and schedule key activities/projects, ensuring integration with other elements of the organization.
  • Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the business area and explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
  • Develop monthly and annual production plans for multiple factories across the business with dependencies on other processes/units to include resource planning and monitoring and reporting on performance against the plan.
  • Provide input to the overall production planning framework and systems.
  • Monitor and review performance against health, safety, and environment KPIs and patterns of behavior within the area of responsibility.
  • Take action to improve performance and to resolve noncompliance with the organization's HSE policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions.
  • Initiate, formulate, and implement new manufacturing methods and processes while managing the development and/or delivery of a significant element of the company's manufacturing process improvement program.
  • Manage budget plans for a department.
  • Manage and report on performance within the plant.
  • Set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them and take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.
  • Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs.
  • Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities.
  • Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.
  • Lead efforts to refine and enhance process safety systems, proactively mitigating risks and embedding safety practices into daily operations at a moderately complex site.
  • Effectively guide, influence, and support the development of team members, encouraging their professional growth while driving team success.
