About The Position
The position involves performing typical distinguishing duties such as repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment and machinery without major disassembly or moving. Responsibilities include servicing, changing, and repairing disc grinding, emery and buffing wheels, and maintaining plant equipment like handrails, safety guards, dollies, hand trucks, and bench vises. The role also includes replacing external machine bearings, repairing pump glands, replacing pulleys and belts, and making minor adjustments. Additionally, the position requires maintaining plant/facility grounds, which involves repairing fences, maintaining signs, removing weeds, and cleaning drainage ditches. The operator will use rider-driven power sweepers and must be knowledgeable about traffic laws and plant safety rules. The role requires making necessary adjustments to maintain equipment and reporting maintenance needs. Other related duties include checking fluid levels and operating various machinery such as tugs, forklifts, and lifts. A valid California driver's license and experience with mobile equipment are required, along with the ability to lift heavy items and work at heights. The candidate must also be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.
