About The Position

The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing and maintaining the facility, machinery, buildings, and equipment used in compressing and liquefying gases. This role involves partnering with internal and external customers to address technical questions regarding Airgas equipment and ensuring compliance with all FDA, Safecor, and DOT regulations. The technician will perform various essential duties including installation, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of bulk tanks, valves, and cryogenic pumps, as well as operating and maintaining equipment for pumping or repackaging gases into cylinders.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience and education.
  • At least one year of knowledge and experience of arc and gas welding with at least two years industry experience preferred.
  • Competent in plumbing, carpentry, and masonry work.
  • Experience working with electrical circuits, motors, compressors, pumps, and drives in an industrial setting.
  • Ability to perform very heavy work, routinely lift 25-75 pounds and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 pounds.
  • Ability to work independently and under some pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime to keep the plant running with limited downtime.
  • Must be able to work with a wide variety of people with different personalities and backgrounds.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in temperatures ranging from -10 to over 110 degrees.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
  • Install, extract, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair bulk tanks, valves, and cryogenic pumps.
  • Operate and safely maintain equipment for pumping or repackaging gases into cylinders.
  • Regularly inspect and maintain pumping apparatus, tanks, and valves and associated monitoring devices.
  • Answer technical questions from internal or external sources.
  • Ensure any accident or injury is promptly reported to management.
  • Conduct periodic checks of the Plant for safe and efficient operations.
  • Operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and orderly plant appearance.
  • Travel to customer sites to work on equipment as needed.
  • Repair and maintain equipment in the plant such as compressors, scrubbers, instrument panels, and electrical equipment.
  • Test equipment to locate causes of trouble using standard test meters.
  • Dismantle equipment using hand tools and power tools.
  • Weld, braze, burn, and solder parts.
  • Repair and replace pipes and equipment using pipefitting tools.
  • Repair and adjust instrument control panels, rectifiers, motors, switches, and other electrical equipment.
  • Repack compressors and pumps.
  • Change filtration materials as required.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and comply with all federal, state, local, and DOT regulations.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and professional personal appearance, and maintain vehicle appearance in a professional manner.
