About The Position

Repair and maintain equipment and building operations including ready-mix plant, recycler and other miscellaneous equipment. Repairs plant equipment in such a way as to ensure all equipment is always operated in a safe condition. Reinforces the safety culture throughout the entire organization. Attends plant safety meetings. Fixes issues identified during plant inspections in a timely manner. Works to ensure that the ready-mix plant is mechanically available every day and that unplanned production outages are kept to an absolute minimum. Proactively communicates problems in achieving continual plant uptime to Ready Mix Management Team. Effectively and efficiently performs all preventive maintenance activities and quickly resolves all equipment breakdowns. Avoids fixing equipment with temporary patches that do not resolve the fundamental cause of the equipment failure. Develops additional skills required to continually improve personal mechanical abilities. Educates the Operations Manager, Plant Managers, and Drivers about the appropriate methods to operate all parts of the plant. Troubleshoots unexpected breakdowns to identify root causes of the failure. Works with the Accounting department to ensure all administrative procedures are followed and that all maintenance expenses are appropriately categorized by piece of equipment. Occasional overnight travel required

Requirements

  • Must know all aspects of air handling devices, i.e. cylinders, solenoids, compressors, regulators. Knowledgeable of electric over air systems. Formal training and/or certification.
  • Must be able to work with PVC and rigid piping for handling of air and water. Knowledge of pumps and their capacities.
  • Must have expertise in the utilization of these tools. Formal training and/or certification preferred.
  • Must understand 480-volt systems and lower. Must be able to read schematics and prints. Troubleshooting experience necessary. Computer batch panel experience necessary. Formal and/or certification necessary.
  • Must be able to read prints and plant layout features, i.e. plumbing, air and electrical systems, conveyors, hoppers, silos and bins. Must be able to use a transit and experience installing forms.
