About the position

The Plant Maintenance Technician 1 position at Clean Water Services involves performing mechanical work related to the installation, maintenance, and repair of systems and equipment in a wastewater treatment facility and remote pump stations. The role requires adherence to safety policies and procedures while utilizing various tools and technologies to ensure the efficient operation of wastewater management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical work using hand and power tools in the maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery in wastewater treatment plants and pump stations.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance, calibrate, and service equipment according to plans and specifications.
  • Maintain records of maintenance performed and monitor equipment through inspections.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and address issues with equipment, scheduling repairs as necessary.
  • Install, repair, replace, and modify pumps, controllers, bearings, seals, hydraulic pipes, and timing devices.
  • Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) in accordance with workflow processes.
  • Prepare and submit reports, reviewing parts, materials, and equipment requirements.
  • Read meters, gauges, and instruments, reporting any failures or operating difficulties.
  • Clean, lubricate, and paint equipment as needed.
  • Assist with maintaining inventory and supply of replacement parts.
  • Respond to emergency situations after normal working hours and serve on emergency stand-by alert and call out status on a rotational basis.
  • Perform corrective maintenance on failed equipment and systems.
  • Evaluate equipment, tools, and parts, making recommendations for purchases, replacements, and repairs.

Requirements

  • 1 year experience in a utility, Millwright, wastewater facility, or related field, or accredited certificate, degree, Millwright, or approved related training program.
  • 6 months experience in a utility, Millwright, wastewater facility, or related field with college-level coursework, or accredited certificate, degree, Millwright, or approved related training program.
  • Valid State of Oregon driver's license.
