About The Position

As a Plant Maintenance Supervisor on the 2nd shift at Smithfield Foods, you will direct maintenance crews in the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment used throughout the plant, facilities, utilities, and powerhouse equipment. You will oversee maintenance processes to reduce mechanical downtime and ensure that product flows and production lines operate at maximum efficiency. This role involves leading teams of Maintenance Mechanics and Electricians in predictive and preventative maintenance and machine repair, as well as developing and implementing maintenance systems and processes associated with efficient manufacturing organizations. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of maintenance work performed and providing regular status reports to the maintenance management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field and 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in a lead role providing training, coaching, or mentoring.
  • Advanced technical skills in ammonia refrigeration, high pressure boiler, compressed air, mechanical and electrical fields.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, and preventive/predictive maintenance.
  • Strong leadership skills including conflict resolution, decision making, and delegation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Lead teams of Maintenance Mechanics & Electricians in predictive & preventative maintenance and machine repair.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise maintenance systems, processes, and documentation.
  • Schedule maintenance in a timely manner and coordinate with Production for equipment and facility repairs.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators for tracking maintenance performance.
  • Provide long-term solutions and day-to-day support for troubleshooting and equipment failures.
  • Train employees on proper work methods and safety procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with USDA regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and inventory.
  • Provide regular status reports to maintenance management.
