About The Position

As a Plant Maintenance Supervisor on the 2nd Shift at Smithfield Foods, you will direct maintenance crews in the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment used throughout the plant, facilities, utilities, and powerhouse equipment. You will oversee maintenance processes to reduce mechanical downtime and ensure product flows and production lines run at maximum efficiency. This role includes leading teams of Maintenance Mechanics and Electricians in predictive and preventative maintenance and machine repair, as well as developing and implementing maintenance systems and processes associated with efficient manufacturing organizations. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of maintenance work performed and providing regular status reports to the maintenance management team.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in leading, training, coaching, or mentoring staff.
  • Advanced technical skills in ammonia refrigeration, high pressure boiler, and mechanical and electrical fields.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems and work order processes.
  • Strong leadership skills including conflict resolution and decision making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Experience in a large manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of preventive/predictive maintenance and TPM.

Responsibilities

  • Direct maintenance crews in the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Oversee maintenance processes to reduce mechanical downtime.
  • Lead teams of Maintenance Mechanics and Electricians in predictive and preventative maintenance.
  • Develop and implement maintenance systems and processes.
  • Ensure timely scheduling of maintenance and work closely with Production.
  • Develop and maintain Key Performance Indicators for maintenance performance.
  • Provide long-term solutions and day-to-day support for troubleshooting and equipment failures.
  • Train employees on proper work methods and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed and inventory.
  • Provide regular status reports to maintenance management.
