About The Position

The Plant Maintenance Mechanic at American Airlines is responsible for ensuring the safety and efficiency of the airline's facilities and equipment. This role involves a variety of technical and general maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining building components and machinery. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read, write, fluently speak and understand English or the local language.
  • Minimum of 36 months journeyman experience in maintenance trades such as carpenter, electrician, HVAC, millwright, painter, plumber, or welder.
  • Possess applicable state or city license.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in any weather conditions.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
  • Must pass FAA criminal background checks for airport access.
  • Ability to secure appropriate airport authority and/or US Customs security badges.
  • Successful completion of drug screening process.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, disassemble, clean, check, repair, rework, replace, fabricate, assemble, install, and adjust building components and plant equipment.
  • Execute assignments requiring plumbing and millwright skills.
  • Weld materials as needed for repairs and maintenance.
  • Perform general building maintenance and construction work.
  • Maintain locks and keys for facility access and security.
  • Assist in storage, removal, and clean-up of hazardous waste.
  • Ensure proper completion of forms, records, reports, and other paperwork.
  • Request parts and clean work area after each shift.
  • Perform Foreign Object Debris (FOD) walks and coordinate with vendors regarding technical questions.
  • Explain work procedures to other personnel and escort vendors throughout airport property.
  • Report to position on time and adhere to safety procedures and policies.
