The Starbucks experience starts in our Roasting Plants where we have a dedicated team of professional roasters and supporting process teams including planning, warehouse management, packaging, roasting, maintenance, engineering and logistics. We currently have openings on 2nd and 3rd shift. As a plant logistics specialist, you will: Complete required documentation of product and raw material movement. Support scheduled production throughput levels to meet team goals for reliability and budget standards. Coordinate movement of raw materials from the warehouse to production locations based on data reports and computerized inventory system. Ensure all outbound product is available for distribution. Ensure quality by continually reviewing product to detect and correct errors. Perform inventory counts, reconciles, and makes visual checks of on-hand raw materials. Perform a range of shipping, receiving and inventory control duties, including loading and unloading of trailers, replenishing stock, and filling orders. Move trailers as needed within the yard to facilitate loading and unloading. Complete tasks thoroughly and accurately to ensure compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements. Identify, report, and document any deviations from quality, legality, or food safety standards. Demonstrate and understand safety as our core value and follows the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution; coach others to do the same. Understand and follow established safety guidelines, programs and procedures; and actively work to prevent safety incidents. Support food safety, legality and quality programs. Maintain product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures. Perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values. Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

Requirements

  • Manufacturing or distribution environment (2 years)
  • Material handling (1 year)
  • Regulated food manufacturing environment (1 year)
  • High school diploma/GED, US military service or equivalent
  • Forklift certified
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to collect, record and report on material requirements using manual or automated systems
  • Ability to perform inventory counts and identify ways to minimize material outages
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to follow verbal direction
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance
  • Ability to operate required material handling equipment
  • Ability to understand written policies and guidelines, specifications and safety standards
  • Ability to learn and accurately operate several different computer systems
  • Self-motivated plant logistics specialist
  • Ability to work in accordance with safety, quality and sanitation standards, policies and procedures
  • Available to work variable shifts to support business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Material Resource Planning (MRP) systems and their applications
  • Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with the GFSI certification schemes (i.e. BRC and/or or SQF).

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above.
  • For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.
