About Ameren Missouri Ameren Missouri has been providing electric and gas service for more than 100 years, and our electric rates are among the lowest in the nation. Ameren Missouri's mission is to power the quality of life for our 1.2 million electric and 132,000 natural gas customers in central and eastern Missouri. Our service area covers 64 counties and more than 500 communities including the greater St. Louis area Plant Helper This position provides TEMPORARY support to Callaway Energy Center. Selected candidates will work up to a maximum of 1000 hours per calendar year. DUTIES: Under direct but not constant supervision, and working on a rotating shift or straight shift schedule as may be required, to perform a variety of general labor and porter type of work in all areas, both in and on all types of plant equipment and service facilities as well as assisting maintenance personnel in performing their assigned tasks. In this connection to perform work such as, but not limited to, the following: 1. Cleaning plant equipment and facilities. 2. Preparation and painting of plant equipment and facilities. 3. Transfer chemicals, supplies, and equipment as directed. 4. Perform landscaping tasks as directed. 5. Remove snow and ice accumulation. 6. Assist in rigging for plant activities. 7. Building and dismantling scaffolds, platforms, and temporary structures. 8. When assigned to work as required to assist Mechanics (Electrical, Machinist, and Welder) in the full range of maintenance work. 9. Operate powered equipment associated with these tasks. 10. Perform all other unskilled plant tasks as directed. 11. Properly drive a motor vehicle when directed or when required to perform his/her duties. 12. On an as needed basis, to serve in any other plant activity for which he/she is trained. SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and maintain complete understanding of all facets of the plant emergency program and plant security system. To react as appropriate in the protection of the public in case of an operational emergency. To serve as an active participant in these programs.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or have passed a high school examination equivalency.
  • Passing scores on the GPPB (General Power Plant Battery Test).
  • Pass Callaway Plant access requirements, including medical exams.
  • Candidates must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
