About The Position

The Plant Equipment Design Engineering Manager will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, development and resource management of a The Plant Equipment Design Engineering Manager will be responsible for providing leadership, direction, development and resource management of a technical team of engineers supporting GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) on the BWRX-300 Small Modular Reactor (SMR) mechanical equipment design. The team works collaboratively both internally and externally with a global team of partner organizations and suppliers to successfully deliver Nuclear New Plant Projects for GVH.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering Discipline (Mechanical, Nuclear or similar) from an accredited college or University
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in technology or engineering role
  • 3 years of experience Leading or Managing an Engineering Team
  • Eligibility Requirements: Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and international sites occasionally (up to 5 to 10%).
  • This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to U.S. export-controlled technology.
  • GE will require proof of U.S. person status prior to employment.

  • This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical and managerial leadership for the development of the team’s technical and leadership talent/depth
  • Oversee team performance, including hiring, training, mentoring and performance evaluations
  • Plan, organize and manage the delivery of technical activities/tasks in support of engineering deliverables which include large equipment design and qualification
  • Use high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering
  • Provide leadership supporting performance and program management of assigned work and ensure on-time fulfillment of engineering commitments in accordance with contract requirements, business procedures, industry standards and regulatory agency guidelines
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationship with other internal engineering team managers, business leaders, project managers and stakeholders
  • Interface with external partners, customers, the NRC or other applicable country specific regulatory agency, as required on technical issues
  • Provide guidance and manage internal/external resources to ensure the quality of deliverables, enable flexibility and improved cost positions
  • Support commercial and marketing opportunities to develop new business opportunities
  • Protect the Intellectual Property rights of the GVH
  • Support GVH initiatives, process improvement and simplification
  • Support GVH quality requirements, including participation in design reviews, initiating and responding to Corrective Actions.
