About The Position

Hussey Copper is seeking an Environmental Specialist for our Eminence, KY location. The role involves providing technical functions to achieve, maintain, and document compliance with environmental regulatory requirements. The Environmental Specialist will ensure that all related work is completed in compliance with Company, State, and Federal regulations.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience as an Environmental Specialist or similar in a heavy manufacturing environment.
• 4-year degree in Chemistry, Environmental Studies, Environmental, Health and Safety or similar required.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to write routine reports.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
• Ability to be decisive and apply sound and reasonable judgement under pressure.
• High level verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with proven ability to prioritize tasks.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Excellent computer skills required.

Responsibilities

• Manages the operation of the facility's Wastewater Treatment System.
• Manages the disposal of Universal waste, as well as hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials.
• Conducts weekly inspections of the facility, documents findings, arranges for and monitors progress of clean-up/remediation of problem areas.
• Conducts training for other employees regarding waste handling, chemical hazards, pollution prevention, waste minimization, etc.
• Observes all safety rules and practices good housekeeping.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
