The Plant Engineer provides engineering support, maintenance oversight, and small capital project management for assigned buildings and areas within a production plant. This role independently defines, plans, and executes cost-effective projects while ensuring compliance with cGMP, safety, and company standards. The engineer drives equipment reliability, continuous improvement, and long-term asset strategies to support safe, efficient, and high-quality operations.

  • Provide technical expertise and manage small capital projects from design through start-up and qualification.
  • Coordinate technical changes, develop scopes, and manage change controls and documentation.
  • Support daily operations with equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and reliability improvements.
  • Plan, supervise, and control maintenance activities and budgets for assigned cost centers.
  • Monitor and report cost center metrics and project performance.
  • Lead or consult on medium/large capital projects when required.
  • Develop maintenance strategies, engineering standards, and equipment specifications to improve uptime and reduce costs.
  • Drive continuous improvement, optimization, and compliance with safety and cGMP standards.
  • Prepare and manage investment strategies, engineering expense reports, and asset planning for future business needs.
  • Ensure adherence to ESHS (Environmental, Safety, Health & Security) and quality requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 3–5 years of project execution and plant/maintenance experience.
  • Strong knowledge of plant design, production processes, and project/maintenance management.
  • Demonstrated technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in chemical or pharmaceutical processing equipment/unit operations.
  • Ability to manage budgets of $2.5M–$3M annually and capital projects of $1M–$5M (preferred).
  • Proficiency with MS Office and SAP or similar software.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Proven ability to implement project management fundamentals and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations and compliance requirements.
