About The Position

Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Plant Engineer plays a crucial role in optimizing plant performance, enhancing process efficiency, and spearheading technical initiatives. This position works cross-functionally with regional engineering, operations, and corporate process teams, providing expertise in process engineering, project management, and combustion control systems. This is a dynamic role for an experienced engineer passionate about power plant operations, performance metrics, and continuous improvement. This position is located at our Essex facility. Please Note - This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (BSE required).
  • Minimum of 3 years in Power Plant O&M (internship experience may be considered).
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience in process engineering.
  • Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable presenting to individuals and large groups.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Regular on-site presence required.
  • Ability to work in a plant environment, including climbing ladders, walking on grating, and accessing tight spaces.
  • May require occasional lifting, bending, and extended periods of standing or walking.

Responsibilities

  • Audit daily plant performance metrics and identify deviations from specified parameters.
  • Prepare performance data and reports; lead weekly production meetings to review performance and improvement plans.
  • Develop and manage the facility’s Production Action Items list.
  • Collaborate with Regional Engineering/Operations and Corporate Process Engineering teams.
  • Optimize combustion and process controls for better plant performance and environmental compliance.
  • Review and obtain approval for plant changes before implementation.
  • Align plant operations with performance goals in coordination with Productivity and Regional teams.
  • Interpret Boiler Condition Assessment Reports and implement recommendations.
  • Investigate issues tied to combustion or process inefficiencies.
  • Challenge and enhance facility performance using engineering tools, historical data, and industry best practices.
  • Present technical challenges and improvement opportunities to facility management.
  • Coordinate and prioritize internal and third-party technical resources.
  • Manage and approve physical modifications to the facility.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of engineering projects – from design to construction and implementation.
  • Support and replicate successful engineering projects at other regional facilities.
