About The Position

Cordia is seeking a Plant Engineer to support the Omaha, NE district energy facility. Reporting to the Operations Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for leading capital investment and major maintenance projects, improving plant performance, and supporting safety, reliability, and sustainability initiatives. The Plant Engineer serves as a key technical resource for the Omaha facility while also supporting select Cordia facilities across North America. This position offers exposure to district energy and combined heat and power (CHP) systems, capital project execution, and long-term decarbonization efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, electrical engineering, or construction management
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in project management, operations, maintenance, or engineering roles
  • Experience working in an industrial environment preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project scheduling tools
  • Experience with ERP systems, including NetSuite, preferred
  • Knowledge of industry best practices related to construction management, safety, and project execution
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a dynamic operating environment
  • Comfortable working across multiple facilities and engaging with a wide range of stakeholders

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Advanced degree in engineering or business administration

Responsibilities

  • Lead capital and major maintenance projects from concept through commissioning, with ownership of safety, scope, schedule, and budget
  • Collaborate with plant leadership to define project scopes, business justifications, and deliverables aligned with operational and financial goals
  • Develop technical specifications, engineering designs, and construction packages in coordination with internal engineering resources and external partners
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and support annual budgeting and long-range capital planning
  • Perform monthly project forecasting and cost tracking to support accurate financial reporting
  • Oversee onsite construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and execution standards
  • Coordinate commissioning activities with plant operations and maintenance teams
  • Contribute to the development and standardization of Cordia’s project management and engineering practices
  • Lead design reviews and Management of Change (MOC) processes
  • Develop and implement best practices related to project execution, construction management, and plant modifications
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement in safety, reliability, maintenance, and operational performance
  • Provide technical support for equipment troubleshooting, plant initiatives, and assigned engineering analyses
  • Support reliability programs including CMMS development, root cause analysis, and equipment health assessments
  • Assist with the development and execution of long-term sustainability and decarbonization initiatives
  • Support business development efforts by reviewing potential growth projects
  • Participate in customer-facing meetings and technical discussions as needed
