Nightwing is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Plant Engineer to join our team and drive the optimization of our industrial operations. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring efficient and safe processes by designing, developing, installing, and maintaining operations equipment. Previously part of a leading Fortune 100 company and headquartered in Dulles, VA; Nightwing became independent in 2024 but continues to support the nation’s most mission impactful initiatives. Requirements

  • Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI with CI Polygraph Must be willing to upgrade clearance
  • Possess a Degree in a STEM field, or must possess relative work experience, or an active Journeyman or Masters License with 5 years relevant work
  • Fundamental engineering skills and knowledge
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a desire to learn
  • Background check and drug screen required (every external new hire in the U.S.), drug screen only performed on re-hires who have been gone for more than 1 year
  • U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Self-starter who is eager to own tasks from inception through completion
  • Proficiency in CAD Software (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
  • Hands-on experience with equipment such as UPS, Generators, Low Voltage Switchgear, with a variety of voltages and frequencies
  • Hands-on experience with equipment such as: Chilled Water Systems, Pumps, In Row Cooling Units, and Computer Room Air Conditioners (CRAC/CRAH)
  • Hands-on experience with BMS/SCADA, and PLCs
  • Understanding of traditional data center practices and how they can best be implemented into greenfield or brownfield data centers

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the power and cooling systems at the Program's Overseas Facilities; to include Chilled Water Systems, HVAC, Power Generation, and Emergency Backup systems
  • Monitor the Facilities system operation through remote Building Management Systems (BMS) and diagnose and resolve issues as they arise
  • Develop and produce system status reports, for overall system health and status, as well as root-cause analysis
  • Develop scopes of work ranging from new design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation and maintenance
  • Contribute to technical discussions with a team of Engineers and system manufacturers for system design, recapitalization, and troubleshooting efforts
  • Develop and maintain project documentation to include drawings, technical specifications, and operational data
  • Oversee technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and cost analysis
  • Responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining integrated systems that combine hardware, software, networks, and/or processes to meet operational requirements
  • OCONUS travel required; Quarterly maintenance trips, typically 1-3 weeks in duration. Additional trips may be required dependent on requirements
