Join our team. #CloroxIsThePlace Your role at Clorox: Working in a participative, team-based environment, using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma processes and principles, the Packaging Engineer is responsible for technical stewardship of all equipment in the operating teams, with a focus on manufacturing and packaging equipment. In this role, you will: Develop thorough and practical solutions with minimal assistance to a wide range of difficult challenges using knowledge of industry and plant operations. Apply engineering and maintenance skills to determine root cause of issues and optimize packaging equipment, leveraging plant, company, and external resources. Apply multi-discipline engineering and maintenance procedures to improve and upgrade manufacturing equipment, processes, and materials. Lead or participate on teams developing, designing, installing, and starting up new equipment, processes, products, line extensions, product improvements, and technology upgrades; develop, plan, lead, and execute plant capital projects (typically under $500k). Lead technical support of packaging operations for all aspects of the manufacturing process. Develop and maintain expertise in packaging functional specialties to cost‑effectively support the plant as the on-site Packaging Engineer, including day‑to‑day operations support. Provide manufacturing technology expertise to support plant-led projects and initiatives. Maintain linkages with outside suppliers and internal equipment and technology users to influence development or acquisition of beneficial manufacturing technology. Provide technical leadership within the plant and foster development of plant associates, technical resources, and plant capabilities while supporting the cultural progression toward a high‑performance organization. Technically lead the packaging effort to help plant associates understand and address concerns. Provide thorough and practical solutions to technical problems, demonstrating proficiency in analytical problem solving and effective knowledge transfer. Develop personal skills and mentor/train teams (operations, engineering, and maintenance) on new techniques and practices. Coach and develop others as part of daily work. Influence and accomplish work through others. #LI-Onsite

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience interacting with and managing vendors, suppliers, and contractors
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and analytical decision‑making experience
  • Solid technical skills with the ability to troubleshoot and make decisions
  • Demonstrated presentation, organizational, analytical, and verbal/nonverbal communication skills
  • Leadership ability with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, SAP, and AutoCAD
  • Willingness to work off shift as needed to support coworkers, training, operations, and projects
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and communicate effectively at all organizational levels
  • Ability to function as a member of a cross‑functional team, actively participating and adding value
  • Highly motivated and assertive with strong commitment to success, project management skills, attention to detail, and strong Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement, and Collaborative mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in extrusion blow molding and liquid‑fill packaging in a Consumer-Packaged Goods environment
  • Electrical Instrumentation & Controls (EIC) skills
  • Ability to foster strong partnerships across teams and lead project teams within larger programs
  • Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma manufacturing processes and continuous improvement techniques
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing and packaging equipment, processes, and operations for safety, sustainability, quality, cost savings, loss elimination, failure analysis, training opportunities, and feasibility evaluations
