The Plant Engineer and Environmental Manager is responsible for planning and executing new facility projects and modifications to existing facilities to maximize productivity and financial performance. This role also oversees and enforces plant environmental compliance, ensuring adherence to federal, state, local, and Company regulations and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelors in maintenance management or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Excellent root cause/corrective action and problem-solving skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Oversee planning related to the modification of existing plant facilities or installation of new plant facilities, including all requirements, costs, specifications, timetables, etc.
  • Manage and prioritize department functions to best balance available resources with plant engineering projects.
  • Maintain communication between the Plant Engineering Department and other departments, outside contractors, corporate engineering, regulatory agencies, etc., as necessary to achieve desired results.
  • Oversee and coordinate outside contractors working at the plant to verify that work is completed safely and in accordance with plant and Company policies, and meets specifications and desired results.
  • Maintain an awareness of new processes, procedures, and equipment that could improve quality and efficiency and reduce cost.
  • Participate in the formation and implementation of plant policy and direction.
  • Ensure all federal, state, local, and Company rules and regulations are observed and enforced.
  • Oversee governmental inspections and coordinate corrective action on any noncompliance issues reported.
  • Manage capital planning/execution.
  • Review completed projects to verify results.
  • Manage individual projects to completion as required.
  • Supervise Plant Engineering, environmental, and custodial personnel.
  • Maintain environmental compliance, complete environmental reporting, and ensure that waste generation is within allowable limits and that waste is disposed of properly.
  • Conduct environmental testing.
  • Record and report findings and recommend corrective action where necessary.
  • Complete and submit necessary governmental reports.
  • Direct the process of written environmental policies.
  • Serve as the plant's ISO 14001 Environmental Management Representative.
  • Review and report on the environmental performance of the facility's operations on a regular basis to all levels of management.
  • Participate in area continuous improvement efforts, including Employee Involvement activities.
