About The Position

The Plant Contractor Coordinator oversees and coordinates contractors performing primarily non-capital construction and maintenance projects at the Charleston Plant. This role ensures all work is executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with Ingevity corporate standards, plant policies, and regulatory requirements. The position works closely with the Charleston Maintenance team and provides limited support to capital projects.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in an industrial manufacturing or chemical plant environment.
  • Experience coordinating and supervising contractors in mechanical, civil, and/or structural work.
  • Knowledge of industrial mechanical systems including pumps, agitators, piping, and fabrication.
  • Experience with project planning, scheduling, and cost tracking.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety and OSHA regulations (LOTO, confined space, hot work, line breaks, rigging, scaffolding, fall protection, crane operations).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an operating plant environment
  • This position is not eligible for employment visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred
  • SAP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise contractors from project planning through execution and closeout.
  • Develop scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and track project budgets and progress.
  • Collaborate with site customers, maintenance, and project teams to support small projects and outages.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, safe work permits, and plant safety standards.
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, and labor to support efficient job execution.
  • Maintain project documentation, daily logs, progress reports, and incident records.
  • Process and track purchase orders, invoices, and construction-related expenses.
  • Support maintenance activities and SAP-related tasks (PMs, BOMs, functional locations, spares).
  • Communicate with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve issues and maintain schedules.
