About The Position

Hendrickson is a supplier of truck suspension systems and components as well as an aftermarket supplier for multiple truck components to the heavy-duty vehicle market. Due to business growth, Hendrickson Distribution Center has a fantastic opportunity for a Plant Accountant in facility just North of Fort Wayne, IN located in Kendallville, Indiana. Position Purpose: The Plant Accountant for the Hendrickson Distribution Center (HDC) ensures accurate financial reporting for a manufacturing plant by tracking costs, monitoring inventory, and analyzing variances. The role supports plant operations and HDC finance by providing timely financial insights, helping control costs, and maintaining compliance with accounting policies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of three years’ experience in accounting, finance, or a related field is required.
  • Experience in manufacturing cost accounting, including cost analysis and standard cost systems is required.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems is essential.
  • Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal control concepts is required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and analyze financial data are a must.
  • Strong skills with Microsoft products such as, but not limited to, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook are crucial.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s degree is preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze weekly and monthly plant financial operational results.
  • Investigate variances to standards, determine root causes, and partner with operations on corrective actions.
  • Provide financial analysis and decision support to plant and division leadership.
  • Track and report margin analysis, Purchase Price Variance (PPV), unplanned transactions, cycle count accuracy, and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Support financial analysis for new product programs, including margin and cost modeling.
  • Record and analyze manufacturing and overhead costs while ensuring budget alignment with operations.
  • Develop and maintain standard product costs for current and new products.
  • Maintain bills of material, routings, and cost structures within the company Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
  • Support financial aspects of the change management process.
  • Analyze inventory transactions and variances while overseeing inventory control and cycle count programs.
  • Ensure internal controls are in place to safeguard and accurately report the value of company assets.
  • Maintain the fixed asset system and monitor Construction in Progress (CIP) spending for capital projects.
