PLANS SPECIALIST III (Inspections)
About The Position
Specialized technical and quality control work in the enforcement of Palm Beach County (PBC) building and licensing codes. Monitors, assists, and audits the work of Plans Specialist I's and II's and supporting staff in the areas of plans processing, permits, and licenses. Performs final technical review of inspection requirements prior to issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy (CO), Temporary Certification of Occupancy (TCO), Certificate of Completion (CC), or Temporary Certificate of Completion (TCC). Reviews Development Review Officer (DRO) applications for approval; tracks/routes permit applications; ensures compliance with the United Land Development Code (ULDC); analyzes/determines required licenses; calculates and assesses impact fees; establishes and maintains computerized data files. Work is performed and evaluated under the administrative supervision of the Permit Coordinator.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience reviewing plats, zoning applications, and/or building permits, which includes six (6) months of experience overseeing, auditing, and assigning the work of staff
- Must be able to lift 30 pounds
Nice To Haves
- Experience in/with reviewing building permit applications and ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations
- At least one (1) year of experience performing quality control in a governmental environment (must specify entity on application)
- Knowledge of real estate/PBC geographic area (must specify on application)
- International Code Council (ICC) Permit Technician Certification
