About The Position

The person employed in this capacity will perform his/her duties under the direction of the Director of Building/ Housing Codes. Perform facility construction engineering work code compliance and to provide assistance to other personnel regarding structure and/or facilities Code Enforcement.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Must obtain ICC Residential & Commercial certifications within (12) months of employment in one of the associated trades.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Capable of reading and understanding architectural or engineering plans.
• Should have at least four (4) years of experience in Architecture, Civil Engineering Design, or Field Inspections for construction.
• Knowledge of Engineering and Architectural Systems, including design and construction; knowledge of Building Codes; ability to tactfully work with construction professionals and the public.

Responsibilities

• Conduct plans review of construction documents.
• Coordinate reviews conducted by other personnel; discuss with contractors, architects and the public aspects of codes relative to building construction.
• Assist other personnel in code interpretations and provide technical support.
• Prepare informational data for public relations; assist the director in daily operations as requested; assist in preparation of codes and code changes for adoption; represent department at board meetings.
• Maintain accurate and complete records.
• Perform all other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
